Kathy Ceceri is a teaching artist and author of activity books for kids including The Silk Road (which she also illustrated), World Myths and Legends, Discover the Desert, and Around the World Crafts.

She has taught enrichment classes for elementary and middle school students in schools and libraries around the Northeast, and presented teacher workshops on integrating the arts into the elementary school curriculum.

Gargoyle

A journalist for more than 20 years, Kathy is also a senior editor and founder of the blog GeekMom and a contributing writer for Wired.com's GeekDad blog. Kathy has covered education and parenting topics for Disney's FamilyFun, Home Education Magazine, The Albany (NY) Times Union, Sesame Street Parents and Child.

Kathy and her family are also the creators of several science websites popular with science teachers, professors and with homeschoolers: Home Chemistry, Home Biology, Home Physics and Integrated Science at Home.

The blogs have been recognized by The New York Times and Chemical & Engineering News (American Chemical Society).

Kathy studied art at Parsons School of Design and received her Bachelors in English Literature at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She lives with her husband and their two sons in Upstate New York.

Her newest books, Robotics: Discover the Science and Technology of the Future and Geek Mom: Projects, Tips, and Adventures for Moms and Their 21st Century Families (written with the editors of GeekMom.com) are coming out in 2012.
